BENZCE BIRTOK – Hungary

WHAT DOES THIS WINE TELL US?
Very small production of an amazing wine made from three autochthonous Hungarian grapes, Furmint, Harslevelu and Keknyelu and all their magic. The grapes are harvested at different times, with a small part of the Hárslevelű left to ferment on the skins for about ten days. Ageing takes place in different amphorae for about 9 months, unfiltered and without the addition of SO2. Taut, vibrant flavour and acidity on the palate, with a pulp that is present and essential.

Where this wine come from?

Bencze is a young Hungarian winery, located in the region of Hajdú-Bihar, a family business founded by István Bencze in 2011 which works on 15 certified biodynamic hectares. The main goal of the winemaker is to produce natural wines in order to show the maximum potential of the territory through the autochthonous vines Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chenin blanc.
“For us – István explains – it is essential to cultivate the best grapes at the highest possible level of balance. Without the use of any additives, we can preserve the original personalities and energy that pro- comes from the vines.”
